What started as a heels class in Chicago quickly transformed into a movement of empowerment. Shakila Stewart founded Walk This Way Movement, Inc. to help women conquer fears, overcome obstacles, and build confidence through the art of walking in heels. The second class was even featured on ABC’s Windy City Live talk show, marking the movement’s early success.

Recognizing a gap in confidence-building tools for teenage girls, Walk This Way Movement launched Chin Up! You Got This! Confidence Training. This workshop focused on empowering teen girls with self-esteem and resilience—no heels required.

After partnering with schools, women’s organizations, and community groups in Chicago, Walk This Way Movement expanded to Los Angeles. Through collaborations with organizations like Los Angeles Business Source and Magnolia Science Academy 3, the movement reached new communities and broadened its impact.

Founder Shakila Stewart expanded the movement’s influence by publishing Chin Up! You Got This!™ Walk This Way into Self-Worth, Your Dreams, and Your Purpose. The book, along with workshops and book signings, inspired countless women and youth to embrace confidence and resilience.

Walk This Way Movement introduced The One Pearl Initiative, celebrating the unique value of every woman and girl. The campaign’s signature pearl necklaces sold out in just 10 minutes, sparking a movement of self-love and confidence.

Inspired by a young girl’s story of finding hope in the words “Chin Up! You Got This!,” Walk This Way Movement officially established Chin Up! You Got This! as a California nonprofit on June 26, 2024.
